our job

grow and professionalise legal, corporate governance and compliance processes for:

• all our Aalberts companies in the German speaking countries (DACH); and
• all our locations of Aalberts surface technologies globally
• as senior legal counsel and part of the global Aalberts governance network, reporting directly to the global general counsel in Utrecht, you further develop and strengthen the governance & audit processes and drive strategic legal projects 
• you are the first point of contact for the ongoing compliance trainings including the Aalberts Integrity Academy e-learning for the relevant employees of your locations
• you work closely together with the leadership (CEO and CFO) of Aalberts surface technologies based in Kerpen
• you manage legal and commercial risks and coordinate with outside counsel to manage country-specific claims
• you improve the corporate householding and legal management systems
• you review, draft and negotiate large commercial agreements in English and German
• you draft and develop contract standards, checklists and standard legal documents
• you are willing to travel between our various locations in the German speaking countries and (at least) once a week to our Aalberts HQ in Utrecht

your profile

• university degree in law
• several years experience in corporate governance, international compliance regulations and German corporate and commercial contract law
• business-oriented self-starter combining analytical reasoning and judgement, while working with the highest degree of integrity
• fluency in German and in English and good communication and listening skills
• strong, persuasive and entrepreneurial personality
• take responsibility, be pragmatic, initiate progress and get things done by taking ownership
• good interpersonal skills, strong people orientation and sensitivity to cultural diversity
• experience with managing outside counsel on a variety of matters
• ability to sell compliance to the business while ensuring that certain lines are never crossed
