The COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic is impacting us all in unprecedented ways, with governments and businesses working together to support national and international healthcare efforts. VTI Ventil Technik, part of Aalberts fluid control, has shifted capacity to its medical assembly stations in Germany to help ensure the supply of oxygen pressure regulators for medical treatment across Europe.
One of the most severe symptoms of coronavirus is pneumonia, which can lead to breathing difficulties, hospitalisation, and the need to be given supplemental oxygen.
“This pandemic pushes the demand for products that healthcare providers use to provide patients with oxygen.” sales & technical service director Lutz Lohmann explains. “We are increasing capacity across our medical assembly line by shifting personnel from other product lines. This enables us to produce valves, pressure regulators and VIPRs (valves with integrated pressure regulators) for oxygen treatment used in hospitals, ambulance services and home care, and means we have been able to shorten our lead times to 4-6 weeks. We can also provide customers with smaller batch orders, from 50 regulators, while many of the larger market operators can only fulfill orders of 200 or more."
Across the group we see many examples of taking ownership; from materials to in kind initiatives. We are proud to contribute as Aalberts.
